Baked donuts are the new fried donuts. Use a donut pan and this delicious recipe to create Old Fashioned Baked Cake Donuts. Eat plain or top any way that floats your boat. I dipped mine in caramel sauce and granulated sugar.

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs (Room Temperature
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 2/3 Cups Unbleached Flour
  • 1 Cup Milk
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Lightly grease two standard donut pans.
  3. In large-size bowl beat butter, vegetable oil, sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until nice and smooth. Add eggs and beat to combine. Stir in baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, kosher salt, and vanilla. Alternate flour and milk. Stir to combine.
  4. Spoon batter into prepared donut pans. Fill wells 3/4 full. Place in oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let sit in pans 7 minutes before removing and transferring to wire racks to cool.
  5. Eat plain or top with whatever toppings sound good.
  6. Makes 12 donuts
