Here at Tiny New York Kitchen, this is one of our favorite holiday appetizers.

  • 1 Pound Thick Steak
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Freshly Ground Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Oregano
  • 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Granulated Garlic
  • Croutons:
  • 1 Loaf French Bread
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Granulated Garlic
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Oregano
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Rub tenderloin with 2 tablespoons olive oil, pepper, garlic, and oregano. Let stand out on counter for 15 minutes. Dust with 1 teaspoon kosher salt just before placing steak in oven. Place in oven. Depending on thickness of steak, it should cook 20 to 35 minutes. Keep an eye on it. Thermometer should read 130 degrees for medium-rare. Remember that it will continue to cook while resting out of the oven.
  3. Slice French bread into nice thin rounds. Brush with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic, oregano and kosher salt. Place on baking sheet.
  4. After taking steak out of the oven turn heat down to 300 degrees. Place baking sheet in oven for 2 to 4 minutes. You will want rounds to be slightly toasted. Remove from oven.
  5. Thinly slice steak. Place steak on top of toasted bread. Transfer to serving platter and serve.
