This sauce is sweet, tangy and goes well with nearly anything that goes on the grill.
- 2 Tablespoons Bacon Drippings
- 1 Cup Chopped Red Onions
- 3 Garlic Cloves (Chopped)
- 2 Jalapeños (Seeded & Chopped)
- 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/4 Teaspoon Dry Mustard
- 2 Cups Cola Soda (Not Diet)
- 1/2 Cup Red Wine Vinegar
- 1 Cup Ketchup
- In medium-size saucepan heat bacon drippings over a medium-high heat. Add onions and cook 5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and jalapeños. Cook 1 minute. Stir in kosher salt, garlic powder and dry mustard. Cook 2 minutes until spices are toasted and fragrant and onions are a deep maroon color. Whisk in cola and vinegar. Cook 2 minutes. Stir in ketchup and bring sauce to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook 12 to 15 minutes until mixture coats back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and let cool. Use as desired or chill for up to 2 weeks.
